I was flabergasted when I saw this article on GameSpot indicating that 3D Realms says they don’t want to ‘rush’ a game that’s been in development since 1997.  I can’t imagine it will ever meet expectations.  They have to have changed engines a 1/2 a dozen times since they started on it.  Just Wow.
